Busy, busy, busy...

Whew! I have been working so hard on getting these pictures scanned. I have been putting some up on a web-site already. If I don't post them as I get them done (in batches) I may never get them on-line. I haven't even scratched the surface, either. And the pictures are all scrambled up. The books aren't in order. The pictures aren't in order in the books, etc. At first I was going to try to tidy them up and organize them then process them. But if I did that, it would be next year, or the year after that before I began to get them on-line. So... once this job is done I will hopefully get things put back into order and I'll never let any one get their hands on my photo albums again. They can look at them on-line as much as they want, but I'm not risking letting anyone despoil my books again.

I really enjoy going back thru the pictures. Mostly it was happy times. I look at Mom and see how skinny she was back when she and Dan first got married. Even then she was convinced that she was 'an elephant'. That's what she always called herself. And she looks emaciated in some of those pictures. So do I, really. Easy to see where my sister and myself got our poor self-image from. Mom had a very bad self-image. She was sure, absolutely, one hundred percent certain that she was fat and ugly and worthless. And she was none of those things. But you couldn't make her believe that. And I'm a lot like her, that way. I can look at those old pictures now and go, "Wow! You were a good looking young girl!" But I distinctly remember the way I saw myself back then. No one could have ever proved to me that I wasn't fat, ugly, awkard, etc.

I know I will never be that small again, that nice looking. But I can look at those pictures now without regret (mostly). I have a goal now. I will get healthier, skinnier, happier. I will like myself more. I can do that, now.

If any one cares to look at someone's old family photos, this is what I've been spending nearly all my free time on.
Click on the picture and the link will open in a new window. You won't leave this page.

You really have been busy scanning. At first I just saw a few pictures. I didn't realize that if I click the pictures, they would take me to a whole new section.

Many of your pictures look newer, but if you have any older pictures that you'd like fixed up a bit, do let me know. I have a lot of image editing programs.

P.S. You have a very sweet family.

That is so sweet, Jeannie. I know you are already so busy yourself. I may email a couple of pictures to you to see what you can do with them. They are from the late 1800's. Probably the 1890's. They are of my great-grandmother and her family before she married.
They are not in bad shape, considering that they were stored in a chest in my grandmother's attic for decades, and before that they were dragged all over the country with her while they traveled as migrant farm workers. After my Granny died the rest of the family was going to throw them out because they didn't know who the people in the pics were. My mother knew and rescued them. Now they are mine.

Hello again my friend!

I took a look at your new photo section- of Burrell Teague and family. If you're interested, Burrell Teague was the son of William Teague and Temperance Whitehead.

I'd be happy to help with any genealogy research or to assist with tracking down the names of the people who are in your pictures. I can also tell you a bit of the history about photography which would help you date the pictures.

I just saw the picture of Edna Teague-Bell, standing by the chair, and the pictures of your West family. It is wonderful that you are getting all of these pictures together. The "Genealogy Genie" thanks you for your hard work. :-)

My sister has more information about who some of the people are in those photos. She's been in contact with several people who are distantly related who also have pictures of the family and they have identified some of them, as well. I hope that by putting them out there, more people with more info might see them and share what they know.
