A Day's Worth of Random Thoughts

So... hubby comes home from work yesterday and says, "Honey, if you had been McCain's choice for vice-president this year you too could have got a $150,000 shopping spree for yourself and your family." So I says, "Wouldn't have worked, Sweetheart. According to their requirements I am over-qualified." (ba-da-bomp!)

Do you guys have any idea how good apples and cinnamon smell cooking on the stove?

I'm still waiting for my robo-call. I got them from McCain during the primaries, but for the general??? Cheap bastard. (Just kidding, I know he has other priorities)

I have three new books. Well, they are new to me. I bought them used and they've been out for a few years... problem is... with this wealth of new reading material, I don't know which one to start on first.

Another quandary, do I go vote early, or do I do the traditional thing and join my neighbors and friends at the polling place on Nov. 4th? I'm thinking on voting early. Starting on Oct. 27th the early voting place is open til 6pm. That way I can go after Pete gets home from work and I won't have to ask for the car. He might even come vote early with me. Seeing all these long lines... I can only imagine what Nov. 4th will be like. Lord knows I don't want to have to stand in line for hours. That doesn't sound fun at all. I mean, it's good that so many people are voting, but still... election boards across the country should have been more ready for the large numbers of people who we've all known for months are interested in this election. Now they want to act like the numbers are totally unexpected. Puh-leeze!

Well, whatdaya know? Just got my first robo-call of the general election season! I'm so excited. Whoopee! Can't ya tell? It wasn't a McCain call. It was for congressman Paul Braun. It went something like this, "Hello friend, this is Pat Boone. Yes... Love Letters In Sand, Pat Boone. I'm calling on behalf of my friend congressman Paul Braun..." that's about the time I hung up. I listened long enough to see who he was calling on behalf of, and then, click. I never did like Pat Boone anyway. I think I'd vote for "the other guy" just because I don't like him.

The older I get the more like my mother I look.

Alan Greenspan, the former Fed Chair, was up on the Hill today answering questions posed to him by members of the House. This dude was the top money man in the nation, perhaps the world, for the better part of two decades. And the best he could come up with when asked why he didn't see this coming was "our models were wrong"!!! Come on! After all this time, that's the best you can do? Two decades of running the show and you can't even make the effort to come up with a half-arsed short story for us? All he has to say for himself is HE GOT IT WRONG?! The dude sure has got lazy since he retired. Sheesh. I want a refund. I don't feel like I got my money's worth.

I made some outrageously, awesomely delicious whole grain roti for supper tonight. I used whole wheat flour, Indian millet flour, whole grain rye flour and I used barley flour on the board when I was rolling them out. They turned out soooo good. Then I made pork and potato curry to go with. Darned good stuff! Hubby had a sausage and cheese omelet, not being a big fan of Indian food. I also made a batch of apple walnut tarts. The house smells so good. I can't describe it.

Now I'm going to go put my foot up and watch the rest of Hardball. Then I'll watch Keith and Rachel and then, hopefully, I'll be ready to fall asleep. See ya!

Did you see the picture of Mrs. Palin on that blog link I sent you? ROFL!!!!

I haven't had any presidental robo calls. Today I got to play a robot when I called people in New Mexico on behalf of Mr. Obama. That turned out to not be quite my thing. It's hard to read a script and I was really nervous (don't know why), but I am glad I volunteered. This is the very first time I've been involved with politics, besides to vote.

I got the "Losing Kei" book that I won on Anna's blog in the mail today. I can't wait to read it.

I also was a witness to a violent crime today and I made a report with the police department, which is why I have not responded to your email. Sorry!! I will say though in response that you've got my mouth watering with excitement at all of the goodies you make for Christmas. I hope that you are able to continue the tradition, but I understand about the rising cost of food. :(

I did see that. One of Pete's co-workers sent him some very sexist anti-Palin emails. I was quite offended, but one of them did make me laugh, I have to admit.
I thought about volunteering but I am so backwards and shy I didn't think I would actually help the cause by being such a stumblebumble. I have my sign up and I wear my Obama pins every time I go out. And I have heard some people talking about my pins in whispers. I don't know if they were for or against, but at least they were talking. Its so exciting. New polls show that GA might... MIGHT... be in play now. Saxby Chambliss, the incumbent republican senator is in a hot race with the democratic challenger and that would have been unheard of just a month or two ago. He's the one who won by trashing that brave man, Max Cleland. He's a scumbag.

I am so sorry you had such a dreadful experience today. I hope you are okay. If you want to talk about it, do you still have my number? Hugs are on the way to you. :)

Geez, I almost made a whole new blog post there, didn't I?

Goodies... oh yeah. I will still do enough. It wouldn't be the holidays if I didn't. Took Pete years to understand that the present factor is that making the goodies is a gift I give myself. I think he's finally getting the picture. :)

I was pretty freaked out by what I saw today, but I am o.k. now. Fortunately, my own safety was never really in question.

I keep hearing how Georgia is going to go blue, but according to that site I posted on your blog the other day, you are still leaning toward Mr. McCain. Bah!

If you change your mind about volunteering, do let me know. I can talk you through it. You may just want to create a profile so you can read all about the support Mr. Obama has in Georgia from groups like, "Barack Rocks Georgia" and "Augustans For Obama". See, you're not the only one!

If Pete does not bake, then he doesn't understand the joy that it can bring. Mike doesn't bake, but he understands the joy. I always make extra for him. :D

Sorry about the untidy mess there SKW, I deleted my previous post because I mentioned I don't like robo calls but forgot to mention its the automated calls I don't like. I get a call one to two times a day from a machine telling me my fleet of trucks are in some kind of trouble. I don't even own a truck!

I will repeat the other part of the post, which is even with Alan Greenspan facing Washington the guy who really got burned was Ex Red Sox player Bill Buckner. Buckner was used as a metaphor for Greenspan and other economists bungling the financial system. Even when facing a possible Depression, people can't forgive Bill Buckner.

Hey! Mr. Mike commented on my blog! Thank you very much. :)

Poor Mr. Buckner, I just saw a thing the other day on Olbermann about him, that's why I immediately recognized the name. I'm not much of a b-ball fan, but even I have heard about Bill Buckner. Poor guy. One thing about b-ball and it's fans... they sure keep their history, don't they? Not always a good thing for those involved, is it? :)

I wish we could vote early here. Guess we have no choice but to stand in those long lines on Nov.4th. I got a robo call yesterday from my congressman, too. They are all probably afraid of getting voted out this year because of the bailout. I love apples and cinnamon and could sure use a new wardrobe!

No robocalls yet.. waiting though.. because I got deluged during the primaries.. but.. I did get a call from President Bill Clinton.. not even a Bill or Hillary fan but I was happy my former President called me TWICE! I can now say to everyone I got a call from a President :p

SKQ I'd vote early if I were you. You are not one to sway your vote anyway so it's not like most people where they decide at the booth. That way you don't get last minute things delaying your vote. You want to vote I'd do it early so you have time and at your leisure without being pressured.

Sorry Jeannie for your unfortunate encounter but happy you were able to tell the account to the police. I'm sure the victim will be most grateful for your help.

I have already voted because I will be on the road on election day. Maybe everyone will be in line and we will have no traffic.

Texas will go red but El Paso will go blue. No robo calls here thank goodness. I don't think they pay much attention to Texas because it always goes red.

We have had some visits in the Las Cruces area because they are fighting for NM.

I try to avoid economic news. Our little retirement account is now minuscule so I guess Neil and I will auction into our 80's.
